Manual Cam App Reviews

Amazing

Just awesome

Which Lens?

How to select which of 3 lenses to use?

This is great!

I’ve been looking around for an app that would let me manually set the shutter speed and ISO and this one let me do just that and it’s also the only one that wasn’t trying to make me buy a “premium membership” to use those basic features. It also isn’t riddled with ads so that’s a plus. I would recommend!

Lates update broke it

The app crashes (100% of the time) at the very moment of taking a photo.

Good UI for manual control

The three main strengths of this app are: •The buttons are all in one place rather than all over the screen. •It can be set to display all of the values for Shutter speed, ISO and white balance. •Adjustments can be made by sliding your finger up and down anywhere on the screen-you can concentrate on the image rather than watching that your finger is on a slider bar. All of this means less time looking and poking around in the UI and more time spent on getting the image right. It is a very good concept. Not as fully featured as Camera+ or 645 Pro, but a good little full control shooter.

Everything you need

I only take pictures with this phenomenal app. A must have. You are in control. The results are stunning. So easy to use.

Great app, no iPhone 6 support

I like the design of the app and it feels polished, but the iPhone 6 Plus has been out for a year and still no support? The interface looks huge and difficult to use on the Plus

My Favorite Camera App

Manual Cam has become my favorite overall camera app, if only on account of how the manual focus is implemented. It is less fussy than several of the competing manual camera apps. I have compared out with most of the other top rated manual camera apps and the images from this app are equal, if not superior, to any of the other IOS camera apps. The per-imaging filters are a nice add-on, but not essential.

Interesting, but ...

Has some interesting “manual” options that I’ll probably use, at times. Wish I could do some of the timings from the standard app at the same time.

Great interface. Super manual!

Love this app for all the customization and manual abilities. Save as tiff! Cool app all around.

Take control of you lens

I know there are some options out there when it comes to manual settings for your camera... but this app does what it with an elegant but powerful simplicity. Good job! I like the "toggle in" when focusing, as it can be extremely useful with the new iPhone (which has a better DOF). I like the app icon. It rinds me of HAL9000

Good, but . . .

A very interesting app that's easy to use. Has interesting filters, especially "Noir" and "Stark." However when you apply one of the filters or when you choose the 1:1 aspect ratio, the app crashes constantly. I am running ios8 on an iPhone 4s. I hope the developer will fix the crashing problem because this app is very creative and has good potential. . . . a few days later. Upgraded my stars from two to four. Have been using this app regularly and find it to be both beautiful and easy to use. It's rapidly becoming one of my go-to camera apps. Crashes seem to be less frequent, although they still happen, and I hope the developers will address this issue. Recommended.

Incomplete metadata

Photos taken with this app lack metadata included with the standard camera app and other camera 3rd party apps. Most critically missing is location data, so you can't use this for vacation photos, location scouting, or journaling if you want to see where photos were taken. Camera make and model is missing as well, which is useful for sorting/filtering phone photos from camera photos on your library later. Otherwise, love the manual controls and interface design, and the icon. But missing metadata means I can't use it regularly.

Could use a bit more.

The controls are a bit unwieldy. The quarter-circle of an adjustment knob is too small and very frustrating to actually adjust. My biggest complaint, however, is the fact that shutter speed can only be slowed to 1 second. The concept has promise and would work great if improved upon, but as it stands, it's not much worth it to use over the standard camera app, never mind the the money.

No zoom? Def. no support

Couldn't find a way to zoom, which is critical for my picture taking. I emailed the developer and never heard back, which is unimpressive to say the least. I wasted my money on this app.

Great camera app

Lots of adjustability & flexible to various lighting conditions. Highly recommend.

Great App!

For all of those who say stuff like "It doesn't have aperture control" here is why: The lenses on the iPhone comes aperture fixed. But. It is true, the filters don't work. Please fix this for a five star rating

Nice job!

I love the zoom on focus feature, but it disappears too quickly to be able to fine-tune the focus. I'd like to suggest allowing the zoom window to stay open until the finger is released.

promising, filters don't work

the manual control features are great. filters look great (much better than apple's) but photos don't save to camera roll with them. fix that and this would be a great app.

Macro!! Thank you!

Amazing new photo app. I still need to play with it more but it's amazing to be able to make these manual adjustments while composing a shot. It's for real. It's not bs. Plus it offers macro photography! I think this is the only camera in the store that does. Finally!

Beautiful

Two weeks ago, I bought a Nikon 1 J3. When I use this app, I feel like I'm using that camera. •••Thank you.•••

Seriously lacking

Manual shutter speed crashes app when dialed up to max. High shutter speed still results in blurry action shots so the control is useless. No manual control over aperture

Image quality!!!

Please make the image quality better, focusing on a farther level has very poor image quality and doesn't reach as far as the native camera and other apps. I love the layout but the interface is a little weary and a bit hard to use. Also the grid turns off after you close the app. VSCO cam has these same features but is more complicated to use and does not take full advantage of iOS 8's manual controls. Overall I am very pleased with this app and it is worth .99¢ but if its possible please consider these ideas (if you can even fix these issues because i know the iPhones camera has its limitations). Thank you.

Not impressed

I liked the dial since it didn't cover the screen, but the overall it doesn't impress. I only bought it to try the manual controls.
